There are some four hundred temples within Bangkok metropolitan area and none is alike.  We have selected for this visit the three most representative.  First the Wat Traimitr and its huge Buddha Image dating from the Ayudhaya period; at the time it had been hidden from the invaders under a cost of plaster, and it is only in 1954 that by accident, it was rediscovered that it was made of gold.
Next is Wat Rajbopitr, a temple of an unusual round shape surrounded by tiled galleries, but which is best known for its doors and windows inlaid with beautiful mother – of – pearl.
Last on this tour is the largest in town, the Wat Po or Phra Jetubon.  Originally it was kind of the first University of Thailand and today it retains a school of traditional medicine, but it is better know for its colossal reclining Buddha Image and its stone – rubbings made on the carved marble plates that surround the main chapel.
